Week 1

We start with you and your career.

Whether you work in a dedicated Diversity & Inclusion role, or Diversity & Inclusion is part of your role this module will help you to:

  • Understand why organisations NEED people like you.
  • Explore your own values and why you connect to this work (your purpose).
  • Identify the legacy you want to leave and define what progress do you want to make in your career.
  • Address what are you scared or worried about and what success looks like for you, and for the organisation.
  • Identify the skills and experience required to be successful.
  • Look at how change happens and how to look after yourself when change is slow.
  • Link your work to the purpose and values of your organisation.
  • Get focused and reduce your exhaustion.
  • Build your career and develop your skills and gain experience.
  • Build your personal credibility for diversity & inclusion work.

Week 2

Is about how to really understand your organisation.

From a diversity & Inclusion perspective and progress made so far. We address:

  • How to gather and collate data, and map out what is working and what isn’t.
  • Identifying the people in your organisation that have a stake or influence in how diversity & inclusion work is progressed.
  • Understanding the business context such as the business and people strategy and purpose, the communities in which you operating and broader or global D&I strategies.
  • Looking at what others are doing inside and outside of your industry in diversity & Inclusion that you can learn from.

Week 3

We help you decide where to focus your Diversity & Inclusion work.

There is a huge amount of work to do, and we can’t do it all. We cover:

  • Connecting the business case for diversity and inclusion to your organisations purpose, strategies, and values.
  • Mind mapping all the data you have collected in your organisation to help you understand the status of Diversity & Inclusion work and any emerging themes.
  • How to be disciplined and realistic about what you can achieve with the resources (people and budget) that are available.
  • Identifing the key actions that would make a difference.

Week 4

Is about getting organisational support.

For diversity & Inclusion work. This module includes:

  • Establishing a plan that the organisation can get behind covering your focus areas, the actions you will implement, and the resources (people and money) will you need to implement.
  • How you will track and measure success.
  • Creating your communications plan including how you will tailor your messages to the audience and use different methods of communication.
  • Finding your champions and how can you work with them to make progress.

Week 5

We address tracking progress.

For your diversity & Inclusion work, and how to create broader accountability:

  • We start with how you will know if your actions are making a difference and looking at reporting and review cycles.
  • We look at how you can create ownership and accountability within your organisation to deliver on the agreed goals.
  • We address how to keep focused, when you are asked to do things outside of your agreed plan.

Week 6

We conclude with keeping your work moving and your skills and knowledge up to date.
  • Staying up to date with the latest knowledge and research in D&I.
  • Effectively using external D&I suppliers such as consultants to support your work.
  • First and foremost, you are a leader who’s role it is to establish, lead and deliver the D&I strategy. How you don’t need to know everything about diversity, equity and inclusion to work in D&I.
  • How working in D&I can be thankless, overwhelming, frustrating and hard, and so it’s important to celebrate your milestones.
