Week 1

The importance of creating Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Whether you work in a dedicated Diversity & Inclusion role, or Diversity & Inclusion is part of your role this module will help you to:

  • Understand why organisations NEED people like you.
  • Learn the business case for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), creating competitive advantage with DEI, and how you can articulate within your organisation.
  • Understand relevant identity groups and approaches in your organisation.
  • Identify the skills and experience required to be successful in DEI work.

Week 2

Understanding your organisation and the moments that matter.

From a diversity & Inclusion perspective and progress made so far. We address:

  • Gathering and collating data in your organisation, to map out what is working and what isn’t.
  • Identifying the people in your organisation that have a stake or influence in how diversity & inclusion work is progressed.
  • Understanding the business context including the people strategy and purpose, the communities in which you operating and broader or global DEI strategies.
  • Looking at what others are doing inside and outside of your industry in diversity & Inclusion that you can learn from

Week 3

Deciding where to focus your Diversity, Equity & Inclusion work.

There is a huge amount of work to do, and we can’t do it all. We cover:

  • Connecting the business case for diversity and inclusion to your organisations purpose, strategies, and values.
  • Mind mapping data to understand the status of DEI work and any emerging themes.
  • What are the moments that matter - the decisions where people are impacted and potentially disadvantaged?Ā 
  • How to be disciplined and realistic about what you can achieve with the resources (people and budget) that are available.
  • Global vs Regional vs local DEI work.

Week 4

You can't do it alone. Getting organisational support.

For diversity & Inclusion work. This module includes:

  • Establishing a plan that the organisation can get behind covering your focus areas, the actions you will implement, and the resources (people and money) will you need to implement.
  • How you will track and measure success.
  • Creating your communications plan including how you will tailor your messages to the audience and use different methods of communication.
  • Finding your champions and how can you work with them to make progress.

Week 5

Tracking progress in DEI work.

And creating broader accountability through data, measurement and reporting:

  • Understanding if your actions are making a difference
  • Understanding data, what to meausre, reporting and review cycles.
  • Creating ownership and accountability within your organisation to deliver on the agreed goals.
  • Addressing how to keep focused, when you are asked to do things outside of your agreed plan.Ā 
  • Build your personal credibility for diversity & inclusion work.

Week 6

Building and embedding into people processes
  • A deeper look at the moments that matter - decisions about people in your organisation
  • Effectively using external D&I suppliers such as consultants to support your work.
  • The map of building DEI in your organisation.
